How do I use the split screen of passage and question on computer-delivered IELTS Reading?

On computer-delivered Reading the passage and the questions often sit in two panes. You can usually scroll the text without moving the item, and scroll the item without losing your place in the passage. Treat the split as a find tool: keep the question visible, then scroll the passage to the deciding sentence. Do not shrink one pane until you cannot read the stem. The clock does not pause while you resize. This is not a highlight-timing page, not a next-button page, and not flag-for-review. Practice IELTS is a computer Writing and Reading tool. It is not the official familiarisation test, not a booking page, and not Listening or Speaking.
