The last line of a General Training letter must match the greeting. Dear Sir or Madam takes Yours faithfully. Dear plus a surname takes Yours sincerely. A first-name friend letter takes an informal close — Love, Best wishes, or Kind regards — not Yours faithfully. Do not close a company complaint with Love, and do not write Yours sincerely after Dear Sir or Madam. The sign-off is the last test of register; a mismatch does not fix a missing bullet.
