How do I write an overview for Academic IELTS Task 1 instead of listing every number?

Academic Task 1 is a visual — a graph, chart, table, map, or process — of at least 150 words. Task Achievement is whether you report the main features, not whether you copy every figure. Write a two-sentence overview that names the overall trend or the biggest contrast, usually without a stack of numbers. Put selected figures in the body: highs, lows, and a change that actually matters. If you list every bar, the overview disappears and the piece reads as a data dump. You do not need a conclusion that repeats the overview. Practise one timed chart (about 20 minutes) so Task 2 still gets about 40. Practice IELTS is Writing and Reading only. Marks are practice estimates, not official bands. We do not book Academic IELTS.
